SS / Duplex and Super Duplex Plugs and Bushings
Plugs securely close off unused pipe sections or equipment ports. Choose from solid plugs for permanent closure or threaded variations for convenient future access when needed. Bushings offer adaptability, featuring internal and external threads that allow you to smoothly connect pipes of different sizes or thread types
Stainless steel options provide a solid foundation of corrosion resistance for general use. For superior protection against aggressive chemicals, chlorides, and marine environments, EBY Fasteners offers Duplex and Super Duplex plugs and bushings. These high-performance grades ensure maximum longevity in harsh industrial settings, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs

EBY Fasteners provides SS, Duplex, and Super Duplex plugs and bushings for reliable and adaptable pipe connections. These vital components ensure leak-proof seals and seamless transitions within your piping systems, even in demanding environments

EBY Fasteners provides SS, Duplex, and Super Duplex plugs and bushings for reliable and adaptable pipe connections. These vital components ensure leak-proof seals and seamless transitions within your piping systems, even in demanding environments
- 304/304L : These versatile grades are the starting point, offering good corrosion resistance against a variety of fluids. 304L is preferred for easier welding.
- 316/316L : Adding molybdenum significantly improves resistance against chlorides and acids, making them essential in marine and chemical environments. Like before, 316L is the better choice for welding.
- Specialty Grades : Less common, but options like 904L may be used in extreme environments involving sulfuric or phosphoric acids where even 316L wouldn't be sufficient.
- Duplex 2205 (F51) : Offers exceptional strength and resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. A popular choice for seawater systems and demanding chemical processes.
- Super Duplex 2507 (F53/F55) : Boasts even higher strength and corrosion resistance than 2205, especially for the most aggressive chloride environments. Common in offshore platforms and critical chemical applications
- Corrosion Resistance : All of these materials offer protection against general corrosion. Stainless steel provides a strong baseline, while duplex and super duplex grades excel in even the harshest environments containing chlorides, acids, or seawater.
- Secure Sealing : Plugs offer a dependable way to close off pipe ends or unused ports on equipment, preventing leaks and maintaining system integrity.
- Adaptability : Bushings provide flexibility, featuring both internal and external threads that let you seamlessly connect different pipe sizes or thread types.
- Strength : Duplex and super duplex grades boast particularly high strength, making them ideal for demanding applications or high-pressure systems.
- Long Service Life : Thanks to their resistance to corrosion, these plugs and bushings are built to last. This reduces the need for frequent replacement, lowering maintenance costs and minimizing downtime.
- Versatility : SS, duplex, and super duplex options cater to a wide range of industries and applications, from chemical processing and marine environments to general industrial use
- Corrosion Resistance : All grades resist general corrosion, with increasing resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking as you move from stainless steel to duplex to super duplex. Super duplex is particularly suited to harsh marine and chemical environments.
- Strength : Duplex and super duplex offer significantly higher strength than standard stainless steel, allowing for thinner components and weight reduction. Super duplex possesses the highest strength.
- Temperature Range : Duplex and super duplex generally maintain better toughness and ductility at low temperatures compared to standard stainless steel, expanding their potential applications.
- Weldability : All these materials generally exhibit good weldability, though specific techniques and filler materials may need adjustment based on the exact grade.
- Cost : Stainless steel is the most affordable. Costs increase as you move to duplex and then super duplex, reflecting the complexity of their alloys and superior properties
- Refinery and Petrochemical : Duplex and super duplex grades become essential for heat exchangers, process equipment, and piping systems where aggressive chemicals, high temperatures, and stress corrosion cracking are concerns.
- Chemical : However, duplex and super duplex plugs and bushings dominate in reactors, tanks, valves, and piping handling extremely corrosive substances such as strong acids, alkalis, and chlorides where contamination is a significant concern.
- Oil and Gas : Duplex and super duplex plugs and bushings are absolutely critical for subsea components like wellheads, manifolds, risers, and flow lines. Their exceptional corrosion resistance to seawater and produced fluids ensures long-term reliability.
- Power Plant : Duplex and super duplex plugs and bushings find applications in seawater cooling systems, areas where corrosive chemicals are used for water treatment, and potentially in high-temperature components within the plant depending on the exact power plant type.
- Offshore Platforms : Duplex and super duplex plugs and bushings are the preferred choice for their superior resistance to saltwater corrosion and mechanical stresses. They are used extensively in piping systems, valves, process equipment, and even structural components.
- Ship Building : Stainless steel plugs and bushings are suitable for freshwater systems, fuel lines, and general applications. Duplex and super duplex plugs and bushings become necessary in seawater piping, ballast systems, chemical tankers, and anywhere superior corrosion resistance is critical.
- Industrial Machineries : Plugs and bushings are used in hydraulics, pneumatics, and chemical handling where reliable sealing and corrosion resistance are paramount. The material grade selected depends on the specific fluids, chemicals, and pressures involved.
- Pharmaceuticals : High-grade stainless steel (316L) is common for process piping, valves, and equipment due to its hygienic qualities and minimal product contamination. Super duplex might be used for highly corrosive cleaning agents or processes involving high chloride concentrations.
- Pumps and Compressors : Plugs and bushings provide leak-tight connections and must be compatible with the specific fluids (gas or liquid) that the pumps and compressors handle. Grade selection depends entirely on the substances pumped or compressed.
- Dairy and Food, Sugar Mills, Textile Machineries : Stainless steel (often food-grade) is the standard for plugs and bushings in these industries due to its compatibility with food products, resistance to cleaning chemicals, and corrosion resistance from the sugars and dyes.
- Fertilizers and Pesticides : Highly corrosion-resistant plugs and bushings made from duplex or super duplex are a necessity in these industries to manage the harsh chemicals used in fertilizer and pesticide production and application
