SS / Duplex and Super Duplex Orifice Flange
EBY Fasteners, a renowned manufacturer and exporter in India, offers a range of flanges, including Stainless Steel (SS), Duplex, and Super Duplex Orifice Flanges. These flanges are designed to connect sections of pipe or tube or to join the pipe or tube to other equipment. Made from robust materials, these flanges are built to withstand demanding industrial environments. The flanges come in a variety of types, including weld neck, slip-on, blind, and threaded, each serving unique functions
The SS, Duplex, and Super Duplex Orifice Flanges by EBY Fasteners are efficient and reliable. They are a testament to superior engineering and careful design. These flanges are not just about functionality. They are also designed for easy installation, ensuring a seamless fit with your existing piping systems. The specifications of these flanges include a range from 150 to 2500, and sizes from ½” to 4”. They are rust-proof, resistant to high temperature and pressure, and weather-proof

The materials used in the manufacture of these flanges include Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel, Alloy Steel, Nickel Alloys, and Duplex Steel. Stainless steel is one of the most commonly used materials in the manufacture of flanges due to its excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and strength

- 304/304L : These grades offer good basic corrosion resistance and are suitable for general-purpose applications.
- 316/316L : These grades provide enhanced corrosion resistance due to their molybdenum content. They are a good choice for marine environments and applications involving some chemicals.
- 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205) : This is the most widely used duplex grade and provides a strong balance of strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness for many applications.
- 2507 (UNS S32750) : This standard super duplex grade offers outstanding corrosion resistance, making it a great choice for harsh environments.
- (UNS S32760) : This grade boasts even higher levels of corrosion resistance than 2507, making it particularly well-suited for seawater applications and other extremely aggressive environments
- Standards : The main standard for Stainless Steel (SS), Duplex, and Super Duplex orifice flanges is the ASTM A182 / ASME SA182. The dimensional standards are defined in ANSI B16.5 (for flanges up to 24" in size) and ANSI B16.47 (for larger flanges). Depending on your geographical location, other standards like MSS-SP44, and regional standards (BS, DIN, EN) might also be relevant.
- Dimensions : The critical dimensions include the Nominal Pipe Size (NPS), Flange Diameter, Bolt Hole Circle Diameter, and Thickness. The thickness is directly related to the pressure class of the flange and its overall size. Orifice flanges have an additional specification of Orifice Bore, which is precisely machined to accommodate the intended orifice plate.
- Pressure/Temperature Ratings : Orifice flanges are categorized into pressure classes (for example, 150#, 300#, etc.), with higher numbers signifying greater pressure capacity. Each specific material grade (like 304, 2205, etc.) also has its own maximum operating temperature limits.
- Flange Face Types : The most prevalent type is the Raised Face (RF), which offers a raised surface for sealing purposes. Ring Type Joint (RTJ) flanges are utilized in high-pressure applications, while Flat Face (FF) flanges are less common and are typically used with softer gaskets.
- Material Specifications : Stainless steel orifice flanges are available in grades such as 304/L and 316/L. Duplex stainless steel is often specified in grade 2205 (UNS S31803/S32205). Super duplex flanges are frequently made from grades like 2507 (UNS S32750) and Zeron 100 (UNS S32760).
- Corrosion Resistance : All three materials offer varying degrees of resistance to corrosion and pitting, making them well-suited for industries like oil and gas, marine, and chemical processing.
- Strength and Durability : Duplex and Super Duplex flanges have superior strength compared to basic stainless steel. This allows them to withstand higher pressures and harsher conditions. Super duplex typically outperforms duplex in strength categories.
- Temperature Tolerance : Duplex can often handle a wider range of temperatures than stainless steel, but less than super duplex. Super Duplex can withstand high operating temperatures, making them ideal for demanding applications.
- Cost : Stainless Steel is the most economical of the three options. Duplexe is more expensive than stainless steel but provides better performance. Super Duplex is the most expensive due to their exceptional properties.
- Orifice Flange Specifics : Orifice flanges are specialized flanges used to measure the flow rate of liquids or gases, and all of the materials above can be used to manufacture them. Here's what makes them unique
- Refinery and Petrochemical : Orifice flanges of SS, Duplex, and Super Duplex are employed for flow rate measurement in pipelines, given their ability to endure high pressure and temperature.
- Chemical : These flanges find their use in chemical reactors and other equipment where resistance to corrosion is a necessity.
- Oil and Gas : In the oil and gas sector, these flanges are used for controlling and measuring flow in pipelines, thanks to their ability to withstand harsh conditions.
- Power Plant : Power plants use these flanges in boiler systems, cooling towers, and other equipment for controlling and measuring the flow of various fluids.
- Offshore Platforms : Offshore oil and gas platforms use these flanges in pipelines for flow control and measurement. Their high resistance to corrosion makes them suitable for saline environments.
- Ship Building : These flanges are used in shipbuilding in systems like fuel, water, and hydraulic for flow measurement and control.
- Industrial Machineries : Industrial machines use these flanges for fluid flow control. They are durable and can withstand high pressures and temperatures.
- Pharmaceuticals : These flanges are used in the pharmaceutical industry in process equipment for flow control and measurement due to their sanitary properties.
- Pumps and Compressor : Pumps and compressors use these flanges for flow measurement and control, given their ability to withstand high pressures.
- Dairy and Food : The dairy and food industry uses these flanges in processing equipment for flow control and measurement due to their sanitary properties and resistance to food acids.
- Sugar Mills : Sugar mills use these flanges in various processes for controlling and measuring the flow of liquids.
- Textile Machineries : Textile machines use these flanges for controlling the flow of dyes, water, and other fluids.
- Fertilizers and Pesticides : The fertilizer and pesticide industry uses these flanges in production equipment for flow control and measurement, given their ability to resist corrosive chemicals
